CONTROLLER
SRF, a Washington, DC based 501(c)3 social service organization with a staff of 12 that manages national and international projects, seeks a highly motivated, energetic, skilled accounting/finance professional to join the management team. The successful candidate has demonstrated experience in accounting management in the non-profit sector with expertise in federal grants administration, funds accounting and A-133, A-110 and A-122 compliance. The Controller reports directly to the President.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and perform day-to-day accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, payroll, bank reconciliation, audit insurance and tax reports.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, cash flow statements, budgets and tax reports.
• Perform month-end-close out and bank reconciliation process to include balance sheet, income statement, cash flow forecast, and updated budgets.
• Work with the President and the board to regularly review and implement the organization’s fiscal policies, procedures and controls and ensure complete and up-to-date operating procedures for all accounting and financial controls.
• Ensure the maintenance of effective internal controls to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements.
• Administer employee benefits programs.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and weekly/monthly cash flow projections.
• Work with program staff to manage and control organizational expenditures within approved budgets.
• Assist with the monitoring of all contracts to ensure compliance with fiscal and programmatic reporting.
• Develop budgets for proposed grant-funded projects, with input from program staff.
• Supervise financial aspects of the organization’s subcontracts.
• Prepare quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial reports as required by funding sources with input from program staff.
• Ensure compliance with all financial and contractual reporting requirements for private or public funding, licensing, or regulatory agencies.
• Facilitate timely preparation of the annual audit.
• Ensure that all employee payroll records are properly allocated to the appropriate grants or funding sources.
• Review all receipts and disbursements, ascertain correct account distribution and ensure all support documentation is accurate and in order.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Management REQUIRED
• Four years’ experience in Accounting Management with demonstrated experience in federal grants administration funding accounting, A-133 Audit and Compliance, and the above listed duties and responsibilities.
• Proficient in the use of accounting software (knowledge of Sage Accounting Software preferred)
• Bilingual – English/Spanish is preferred.
