Moctesuma Esparza

Moctesuma Esparza is one of the premier Chicano film and theater arts advocates in the United States. He is the Co-Founder/Board member of the National Association of Latino Producers, is an Advisory Board Member of the National Hispanic Media Coalition, is Chair of the Board, New America Alliance (2000-03), is a member of the corporate Board of Directors of the Motion Picture Television Fund, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Museum of Latin American Art. He is also a member of the Board of Advisors of the Minority Media Telecommunications Council, and is a founder of the Los Angeles Academy of Arts and Enterprise Charter School. Mr. Esparza has produced, director and/or executive on the following film projects; Walkout (2006), Gods and Generals (2003), Price of Glory (2000), Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999), Rough Riders (1997), The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca (1997), Selena (1997), The Cisco Kid (1994), Gettysburg (1993), The Milagro Beanfield War (1988), The Telephone (1988), Radioactive Dreams (1985), The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez (1982), Only Once in a Lifetime (1979), Agueda Martinez: Our People, Our Country (1977).
Mary Ann Shaening, PH.D.

Dr. Mary Ann Shaening’s consulting firm specializes in public sector organizational development and system engineering. Shaening and Associates, Inc. is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has been in operation since 1977. The majority of contracts performed by Dr. Shaening and her Associates are with state and local government entities, philanthropic foundations, and non-profit health and human services organizations. Projects focus on public systems in the areas of education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and primary and behavioral health care. Dr. Shaening holds a Ph.D. in Research and Statistical Methods. She has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in evaluation, research methods, statistics, sampling, and measurement for several universities. In her volunteer capacity, Dr. Shaening is actively involved in numerous community initiatives.
Jeffrey Kline – Chairman

Jeffrey Kline is a founding member of the Self Reliance Foundation and has guided the organization since its inception in 1979. His award-winning media projects have aired nationally on both public television and commercial radio. Mr. Kline has personally produced over 10,000 individual Spanish radio programs, 12 documentary films in English and Spanish, and more than 100 television spots, including public service campaigns. He holds a master’s degree in Education from New Mexico Highlands University.

Lucas Wright Paz is an environmental consultant specializing in the restoration of fresh water ecosystems and environmental education. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Management from the University of California at Berkeley.
Evan Gladstone, Esq. – Treasurer
Executive Managing Director, NRC Realty Advisors
Evan Gladstone is the founder and Executive Managing Director of NRC Realty Advisors, LLC, which began its operations in 1989 as National Real Estate Clearinghouse, Inc. Under Mr. Gladstone’s guidance, NRC became one of the Resolution Trust Company’s (RTC) major auction and sealed bid contractors selling nearly one billion in commercial and residential real estate from 1990 to 1994. Gladstone began his real estate career in 1974 and has been a prime mover in the real estate auction and sealed bid venues since then. Gladstone began conducting residential real estate auctions in 1982 for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and HUD, then for the FSLIC and FDIC ultimately selling over 4000 houses by the end of the 1980’s. He pioneered the use of sealed bid sales for commercial real estate first for the RTC and then for major corporations including Circle K, GE Capital, and British Petroleum (BP). Mr. Gladstone attended the University of Illinois and the University of California. He is a licensed broker in several states and a member of the National Association of Realtors,the National Auctioneers Association.
Jeff Slade
Retired attorney, Cragsmoor, NY
Jeffrey C. Slade, was a founding partner of Leventhal & Slade in 1984 as well as Slade & Associates, P.C. in 2000. During a 30-year career, he tried cases throughout the United States, in both federal and state courts, and was admitted to the state bars of New York and Texas and five federal districts, five federal courts of appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to his law degree, Mr. Slade holds a divinity degree and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of New York Theological Seminary. He is also President of the Cragsmoor Conservancy, Inc., a land trust in upstate New York.
